Application
Once again, this year, Local Best group Nis organizes the summer academic course. This time the theme is Smart Houses of the Future. Academic course will be held in rooms of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, in the period from 20 - 30. July 2010. There will be 50 participants - 25 participants from universities from all over the Europe and 25 from the University of Nis. Participants are the students of Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The academic part
The academic part of the course contains a minimum of 18 hours of professional lectures and 12 hours of practical work - a case study and professional excursions. In the period of 10 days, lectures will be realized by professors from the University of Nis and by other experts. Lectures will be held in English or Serbian language with simultaneous translation. After lectures, participants will be divided in 10 mixed teams and during the practical part of academic course, they will be solving a problem - a vision on the given theme of the course, by using their knowledge, different materials and the debate between members of the team. At the end of the course, participants will present their works to get a certificate as an evidence of the course taken. This certificate gives the students the possibility to get credits at their own universities according to the European Credit Transfer System.
Through the course, beside the lectures, there will be professional excursions organized, as well as visits to locations and objects that are directly linked to the theme of the course. Purpose of those visits is to better present students with examples of the objects, and it will mean a priceless experience for later professional work and success in this area.
The cultural part
The academic course gives the possibility for a cultural exchange of participants from different countries of Europe. Exchange will be extended by the following activities:
- The Serbian Night on which the Serbian music, food and folklore with authentic atmosphere, will be presented to the participants in order to give students a better idea of the national tradition and culture.
- The International Night on which every student-participant will have the possibility to present their own country through traditional music, food and dance.
- A tour of Nis, learning about its sights and cultural goods.
Also, during the course there will be a mini excursion through Serbia, and in the same time, some of the cultural-historical monuments will be shown to the students from other countries in order to present our culture, tradition and history to them.
The social part
Participating in one of these courses represents a great opportunity for meeting people from other countries and cultures and making friends after course. Experience founded on work in open community, where physical boundaries between countries don't exist and don't affect the work, enables engineers to completely develop their capacities for work in an international environment.

Participants pay a 10 euro fee which includes:
- Presence and participation in every academic activity: professional lectures, case study, and the professional excursion - visit to Smart House B2 in Belgrade
- Participating in social activities: The Serbian Night, The International Night, thematic parties and the farewell party at Bubanj
- T-shirt of the course along with the following material
- Every participant gets a diploma for completing the academic course, which is accepted by all Faculties of the University of Nis.
