Local engineering competition
Board of European students of technology – BEST, Local group Nis, is organizing the Local Engineering Competition (LEC) on the and the of May 2011.
Competition may be partaken by any student that studies at the University of Nis, who likes good fun, who is interested in solving interesting, practical problems and who likes hanging out with other people.
What is it about?
Participants test their knowledge, communicability, creativity, ingenuity and affinities for team work by resolving given problems.
Engineering competition consists of two categories:
- Team design represents the part of the contest that includes constructing the model of a device that solves a particular technical problem. Every team needs to work together in order to design and construct its own model and think out the solution of the problem in a period of time. Thereat, the teams are using materials and tools which are provided by the competition organizers. When the time is up, the built models are presented in front of the audience and jury. In the end, the team that was the most creative and that thought out the best solution of the problem is the winner.
- Case study is the second category of the engineering competition where the team members need to debate and think out a solution of a given engineering-managerial problem. Team members are students from different faculties, who have knowledge in different areas. This competition allows them to combine their knowledge and make the best solution of the problem. Professional jury classifies the presented solutions.
In order to promote this happening, mini-engineering competition will be held in the first week of May, where the students will have a chance to feel the BEST spirit and have a lot of fun while solving given tasks.
